Course information

Ardglass is an 18 hole links course on the north-eastern coast of Ireland with some stunning views and many excellent and unique golf holes. The golf course is just 50 minutes from Belfast and only 30 minutes from the world renowned Royal County Down at Newcastle.

The present layout incorporates the three new holes designed by David Jones in 1998 has created a truly challenging test of golf, particularly on a windy day. The golf course hugs the coastline, with no fewer than eight holes where the Irish Sea coastline comes into play. In fact the Irish Sea is visible from all 18 holes and on a clear day it is possible to see across to the Isle of Man.

Stay & Play: Ardglass Bungalow and Margaret's Cottage are two B&Bs near to the course.

Today's Golfer Expert Review

As soon as you drive into the car park you know Ardglass is special. The clubhouse is built in an old fort dating back to the 14th century, and its walls drop into the sea. The first tee is just feet away from the waves, too, and the sea is in view from every hole. The golf course is just incredible. In parts it's a Pebble Beach lookalike: the par-5 11th skirts a bay where any sliced shot is wet; then you climb a hill to an elevated tee at the par-3 12th, where the green juts out into the water; to the right of that is the tee for the 13th, which literally has waves lapping at its edges. All the par-3s are fantastic, but the other one that really stands out is the second – there’s a ravine between the tee and the green with a 200ft drop into the sea below.
