Nick Faldo believes his new design at the striking new Lough Erne Golf Resort in Northern Ireland, could host a European Tour event. The resort is the ultimate expression in old world heritage and new world five star luxury. With stunning panoramic views from almost every vantage point, the hotel and its two championship golf courses rest on their own secluded island, nestling between Lower Lough Erne and Castle Hume Lough. Lough Erne is the dream of owner Jim Treacy, who was inspired after visiting Loch Lomand. The course will open in July with 14 holes having lake views - many more than you get on the bonnie banks.

With several holes dramatically running along the Lough, this Nick Faldo-designed masterpiece is Ireland’s answer to Loch Lomond so that gives you a good idea of its quality. Opened in a blaze of glory in the summer with an exhibition match between local heroes Rory McIlroy and Padraig Harrington.
