Course information

A true modern (it opened just before the 2000 Open at nearby St Andrews)  masterpiece, designed by leading American architecht Kyle Phillips.

It annually hosts the prestigious Dunhill Links along with Carnoustie and the Old Couse.

The Kingsbarns Golf Links site has long been known for its intimate connection with the sea. The fact that its golf origins date back to 1793 is testimony to the attributes of the site which foster ideal conditions for links turf to flourish amid interesting natural terrain. This unique part of East Fife has sandy soils, undulating ridges and hollows, Cambo burn running into the sea, all set immediately against the rugged coastline of the North Sea.

Golf World Expert Review

Ever since Sir Michael Bonallack said shortly after it opened that this place could one day hold the Open Championship, its stature has been assured. It came straight into the top 20 in our rankings four years ago as a new entry and has consolidated its place since. Kyle Phillips has done an astonishing job in making a six-year-old course look like it's been around for centuries.

Today's Golfer Expert Review

This is a golfing manna from heaven, an unbelievable course in an unbelievable setting. Does it live up to all the hype and its reputation? Without a shadow of doubt. But is it worth £145 a hit? For many of us it's probably not, but with tee times booked solid plenty of people are prepared to fork out.
