Today's Golfer Expert Review
In many ways, this is a course that has slipped under the radar, so I'm pleased it has got the credit it deserves by being featured in the Top 100 list. For me, it's among the best new courses out there. I was struck by its maturity, having been carved out of dense woodland on the outskirts of the New Forest. It's a tree-lined course, very much in the mould of the Rosemount at Blairgowrie. What really impresses me though, is the variety of holes. You only have to play the first half-dozen and you are met with a mixture of challenges, from tricky and very different par 3s to dramatic par 5s. I particularly like the par-5 5th, set on lower ground with a stream crossing the fairway and water on both sides. It's followed by a terrifc driveable par 4.
