The Vale Hotel, Golf and Spa Resort's 'The Lakes' is nowhere near as long and intimidating as the neighbouring Wales National, but it's probably more fun and enjoyable and you can see why the members love it to bits.

Unusually, the round starts with a downhill par 3 but it picks up after that with the signature hole being another short hole, but this time you're firing at a Sawgrass-style green surrounded by water. There's a quality finishing hole too, the green sitting beyond a pond and overlooked by mature trees as well as prying eyes in the hotel.
