Many amateurs think they’ve got to aim their body and club at the target but in actual fact the shoulders, hips and toes need to be aimed parallel left of the target, the two lines should never converge.

When you aim the body at the target the club will usually aim right of it as a result, for a right-handed golfer. So the ball will miss right unless you make compensations in your swing.

This Dream Round video tip from TG Elite Pro Adrian Fryer highlights the importance of correct alignment and where the shoulders and hips should point in your address position in relation to your clubface.

One other point to make is to ensure you don’t become reliant on canes for alignment during practice. They are a good starting point but ultimately, you won’t have access to them on the course!
