Off the back if his incredinble win at the Wate Management Phoenix Open, Phil Mickelson has predicted that thanks to the performance of his new Callaway RAZR Fit Xtreme driver, he could be about to "potentially play some of the best golf I’ve ever played".
The American's new big dog helped him to finish T12 in driving ditance (298.9-yards on average) and T55 for driving accuracy at 57.14%.
His 28-under-par finish was not only the second lowest total ever in a 72-hole tournament on the PGA Tour, but it also meant Mickelson became the first player to post victories in 10 consecutive years on the PGA Tour.
The left hander added: “This driver spins so low that I can have more loft on the club, making it easier to hit. This has got to be good for every player I would think, but it sure as heck is good for me!”
Mickelson opted for a Driver set-up that positioned a 5g weight in the toe and 3g in the heel, marrying this to a Mitsubishi Rayon Fubuki K. 059 prototype model 70X shaft.
He concluded: “Because the RAZR Fit Xtreme allowed me to be personally fitted, I was able to get dialed into a set-up where my ball flight was straight. Now I am able to make the same golf swing as with my irons, so it really could be a revolutionary club for me.”
Neil Howie, Managing Director and President of Callaway Golf Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “For a player of Phil’s calibre to see such a dramatic improvement when switching to the new RAZR Fit Xtreme tells its own story. Like Phil, we’re convinced all golfers will experience greater power and shot-making potential from this club.”
