Golf can bring sheer joy and total despair in equal measures.
Just when you think you've finally cracked it the game can hit back and bite you hard as David Scott (pictured), Director of Golf at Kingsbarns Golf Links near St Andrews, Scotland, recently discovered.
The ecstasy came when David holed his 4-iron tee shot on the par 3 2nd hole (pictured) in the The Eden Club Pro Am at Kingsbarns. His delighted caddie offered to keep the ball for the mantelpiece but David unwisely decided to carry on playing with it...but not for long: precisely one shot later his tee shot on the 3rd was last seen heading North East, towards Carnoustie. "It was such a shame - I think the trouble was I was still on cloud nine," he reflected.
