Course information

The Berkshire really is a golfer's paradise with its two golf courses (Red and Blue) laid out on springy turf among mature timber and swathes of heather. The Red is the more senior golf course of this highly classy pair though both were the handiwork of Herbert Fowler who created them in 1928. Unusually, the Red boasts six pars 3s, six par 4s and six par 5s with the short par 4 6th featuring in the 500 World's Greatest Golf Holes book although the short holes are equally special.

Golf World Expert Review

Another star in the west of London sand belt with heather-clad fairways, pine trees and silver birches. The Red, seen as the club's championship layout, remains unique with a great symmetry of six par-3s, six par-4s and six-par 5s. Placed 40th in Golf World's latest Top 100 Courses in Britain and Ireland listing.

Today's Golfer Expert Review

Tee it up on the Red Course and you'll be treated to prestine, fast-running greens, immaculately cut fairways and tees like...greens. There are so many terrific golf holes but the one we liked best was the par 5 9th which is definitely a thinking golfer's hole. Just avoid the ditches, water and the well-placed bunker on the right and you'll be all right though. Mind you, we weren't too impressed early doors - the round starts with a par 3 with trouble on both sides to a long, thin green.
