Take any Cobra stand bag for the last five years and compare it to the DB1 and it wouldn’t take you long to recognise that’s like putting a seaside donkey up against Red Rum.

The DB1 is an excellent bag with a colour scheme that should sell well in Sweden and the Ukraine! But, as ever, in case ‘Mr Boring Golfer’ says it’s just too bright, Cobra are also working on a range of lower-key tones. Feature-wise the DB1 could quite simply be described as the ‘DBs’ (and if you need to ask what this means, please don’t!).

Features – Valuables pocket with key fob to hold car keys, plus a special water – resistant zip opener, insulated bottle holders, snazzy towel clip, heavy-duty back pads for added comfort, latest Izzo dual, rubberised zip pulls, Velcro-sealed umbrella loop... need we say more?

Storage – Main clothing pocket took the bulkiest jacket and trouser combination we could find, plus you could squeeze a jumper in there too. Ample ball pocket space, plus two lined pockets for valuables. This bag was a bit bigger than some, so we expected storage to be good.

Value – Cobra’s resurgence as a serious golf brand – thanks to the success of their titanium drivers – seems to have rubbed off on their bag range. This is a belter of a bag but cheap. Also, the material is a little bit on the heavy-duty, crispy side for me.

Verdict: For the all-weather, carry-everything golfer you’ll struggle to find a better, or brighter, golf bag.
