Nike SQ Machspeed Driver

Nike SQ Machspeed Driver

RRP: £240.00

TG rating Rating: 3.5
Owners' rating Rating: 5

The Nike SQ Machspeed driver looks set to continue Nike’s domination of the square driver market which saw their square driver technology capture two majors in 2009. The SQ Machspeed’s design is based on aerodynamics that will allow golfers to hit the ball further and straighter from the tee.

The SQ Machspeed golf driver features Nike’s Total Swing Aerodynamic Design which has taken a holistic look at the golf swing to create optimized speed in every section of the swing. Playing with the SQ Machspeed a golfer’s swing will get off to a fast start thanks to the tapered heel geometry and toe-side Nike PowerBow design that helps smooth air flow around the clubhead for quick acceleration.

During the swing motion drag force increases as the speed increases by the SQ Machspeed’s Nike PowerBow and sole diffuser help to reduce drag and encourage much quicker acceleration while drag reduction continues throughout the downswing to ensure maximum energy is transferred to the ball at impact. The result is consistent distance and accuracy.

The Nike SQ Machspeed driver also features Nike’s award winning STR8-FIT technology that offers eight face angles giving you all the adjustability you need to shape any shot. The deep centre of gravity offers a higher launch and increased distance while the distinctive square shape provides the forgiveness and confidence you need to improve your long game.

Review from the magazine

TG rating Rating: 3.5

It would be fair to say not all of our testers were keen on the looks of the SQ Machspeed driver with only David awarding it an above average rating. But Nike are convinced this shape is the way forward, particularly for inconsistent players and David did find this one of the most forgiving on test, awarding it 5/5. All the testers commented on the high ball flight but only John and David lost any noticeable distance because of this. Leon actually thought he was sacrificing a bit of distance but this was one of his longest on test while Chris said this was excellent for a game improver as well as being one of his straightest. Bottom line for this club? Don't be put off by the looks!
