Wilson say: The Spine driver explores today's new driver geometry to generate high MOI and a low CG with explosively long and accurate results. This is achieved by redistributing weight from the centre of the crown to the perimeter. The result is the industry's first truly perimeter-weighted driver with a higher MOI and lower CG than traditional 460cc drivers

Review from the magazine
TG rating
This Wilson Spine Driver has a ‘Spine line’ support behind the sweetspot and a scooped-out crown creating what Wilson call the only truly perimeter-weighted driver on the market. The design is meant to boost MOI and provide more consistent distance. Our stats backed this up. Spin is certainly lowered to provide some zip on landing and excellent total distance.
Pro Verdict: Looks different and has an unusual impact sound. Gave me set-up confidence and is easy to hit but didn’t stand out in performance.
Tester Comments: “Quite like the design and feels very solid”... “Looks good and is very consistent”... “Unique shape actually looks great behind the ball”... “One of the best square shaped drivers I tested”.
2009, Updated Model – Review
Designed for high launch, the Spine didn’t really get the job done for our testers, especially for looks. It performed a lot better than it looked, and Jon gave it four out of five across the other three categories. Despite Chris’ comments that “There was too much going on with the head”, this was actually his longest driver on test. The Spine powered one out to 328 yards of carry.
