As in previous years, there are two offerings – a softer Z-Star ball that has been put into play by the like of Keegan Bradley, Miguel Angel Jimenez as well as recent first-time PGA Tour winner Charlie Beljan, while Major-winners Graeme McDowell and Vijay Singh are among those who have switched to the firmer Z-Star XV.
Both balls feature a new enhanced Neo Energetic Gradient Growth Core which has been designed to offer a higher initial trajectory with the driver, but with lower spin. They also benefit from the new Spin Skin cover which creates 20% more friction between club and ball, leading to more spin on wedge shots, without impacting on durability.
The XV version offers enhanced distance off the tee, while the Z-Star gives golfers better spin control around the greens. The greater number of dimples on the Z-Star also makes it more stable in the wind, while the XV benefits from less drag.
Though the balls haven’t long been in the hands of Srixon’s tour stars, they already seem to be getting the seal of approval. McDowell commented that the balls were “easier to control with middle and short irons”, while Bradley said: “I especially like it better in the wind.”
The balls will be available in both white and Srixon’s Tour Yellow, and will retail at £48 per dozen.
