Review from the magazine

TG rating Rating: 2.5

Nike have produced some genuinely innovative products in the relatively short time they’ve been involved in golf, but it’s probably fair to say the Blue Chip OZ isn’t their best work. It’s am unexceptional but expensive putter that doesn’t offer half as much help to the average player as some of its rivals.

First, the good points. The headshape is very stylish in a typical Nike way,  with a steel ring arcing elegantly behind the clubface to pull the weight back for a nice, true roll. The blue aluminium face insert offers a soft feel at impact – good if you like that sort of thing – and the paddle grip is plain and uncomplicated.

Overall, however, the Oz is a disappointment. Compared to the other putters tested here, for example, the alignment aid is little short of perfunctory – a short white line that is unlikely to be much help in lining up longer putts. Also, the Oz doesn’t always sit comfortably at address, requiring a bit of manipulation to get it to behave itself and aim at the target. For Nike groupies only.

Verdict: Despite its Nike swoosh and highish price, this is not a club that’s likely to transform your putting stats.
