Weight technology is huge business in the golf industry. The Progen Full Bore 2.5 sports two four-gram weights in its sole, but we can’t say they made a significant difference to our performance.

Put the ‘copycat’ design aside and the Progen Full Bore is a decent shallow-faced rescue club that performs alongside the best. The short shaft makes it feel more like an iron than a fairway wood, bringing confidence to an area of the game many people struggle with.

We had no trouble getting out of tight situations with this golf club, but due to its shallow face we were not convinced about using it as a safe option from the tee. If £50 is your absolute budget to get your hands on a rescue club, you could do a lot worse than looking at the Progen.
