Golf equipment review for the MD Golf NV Drew 2013 Wedge
First Hit October 2012
It's been a while since former Ryder Cup player Norman Drew came out with a new wedge, but the wait has been well worth it.
There are two models in the range – a standard bounce (pictured above) and a low bounce option, which is ideal for playing on links courses. Most of my golf is played on fairly sodden parkland layouts, so the standard one worked more efficiently for me.
I’m not too bothered about performance on full wedge hits – I have a tendency to hit them too hard, so often prefer to hit a knock-down 9-iron. Within 40 yards of the green is where I want them to perform, and this certainly did.
I tested the wedge with an array of different balls, and while the premium ones did stop quicker, even the more solid, cheaper two-piece options performed well.
The wedge was also easy to open up, making it very versatile.
