Get out of the rough
In the thick of it!

With a handicap of 28, I have been in the woods, small coppice or maybe under a bush many times. There is always something to prevent you from playing a decent wedge or iron shot and getting your ball back onto the fairway or into a more favourable position can be difficult.
No matter which club you use and however low you shank down, it is impossible to keep the ball down low.
My tip in this situation, providing the ball is sitting reasonably well is to take your putter and use as much power as necessary to reach the short stuff again. Do not gamble and waste shots.
