150 yards out

I am long off the tee; if they go where I want them to but they do not enough of the time; so I decided to work out what club I needed off the tee to ensure I had a shot of around 150 yards left to the green. This for me is a nice 9 iron. So for example on my home course the first hole is 320 yards short par four. In the old days I would take a driver and hope to get close but more times that not I was left or right in trouble; with no real shot to the green; so I now play a 5 iron to go 170 yards to leave me a nice 150 yard 9 iron in. Since I have been using this method I have dropped 6 shots of my handicsp and now play of 12. Get the card from your home course and do the same for all the 18 holes... For a par 5 do the same but take two shots to leave 150 yards etc. Good Luck
