Everyone wants to play there best golf but without realising it most of us destroy our chances of achieving this before we even start our backswing. Try these few tips and see what you are capable of. Before you start your next round you need you to decide you are going to have the time of your life regardless of where the ball goes. There is so much stress pain and heartache in this world we are going on to the golf course to take some exercise in fresh air in beatiful surroundings with friends and the shots you are about to play in that context are insignificant. I am giving you permission to forget all the swing thoughts that normally take over your thinking, you will not need them until you are next on the practice range. Thinking mechanically about your swing is banned until you finish your round. There are two things you are allowed to think about on the course. 1.how lucky we are to have discovered this hobby. 2. your target. On every shot i want you to be consumed by your target. I want you to give yourself the smallest target you can, the smaller the better. A church steeple, a bush, a square yard of fairway or a blade of grass when putting. Before you take any shot you will be absolutely 100% clear of what it is you are trying to do and what you are aiming at. If you are not completely sure then step back and start your pre shot routine again. Thoughts of the past and future are also banned. What you did wrong last time, The putt you missed two holes ago, the chip you duffed, what you might score if you keep it up, which holes you might get a birdie on, what your mates might say if you loose. All these thoughts are in the future or past and have no place on a golf course. We are doing something that we love we are in a great mood and all we are thinking about is our target and having a great time. Decide what shot you want to play focus on your target, commit to your shot 100% and then let it go and see how you did. Find your ball and go through the process again focussing on the shot at hand and that shot only. Never berate yourself never criticise yourself just give a smile at your mistakes Knowing you gave 100% concerntration to the shot, you tried your best, and now you will give the next shot the full treatment and try absolutely to get that ball into the hole. And above all have fun. Enjoy the whole day knowing that the number on your scorecard has nothing to do with your selfworth. Golf is a funny game one day you can`t put a foot wrong and the next day it`s like starting all over again. But if you follow these points as best as you can i promise you will have more good days than you have ever had and you will enjoy the game more than ever. I have not mentioned the mechanics of a golf swing because if you do not have the right mental approach to golf you will find that it`s all a struggle regardless of your ability. I dare you to try this out for a month. Enjoy.
