Curing the dreaded slice

How many times have we heard the cure for this, well unfortunately it isnt always caused by the same thing, even if you have the correct swing plane it can still happen by leaving the club face open.

However the most common fault of the slice is coming over the top on an out to in swing path. Even if you dont think this is your problem id advise your swing be put on video so you can confirm this or otherwise.

The reason most people come over the top is a) being anxious to hit the ball and therefore starting the downswing with the arms.this throws the shoulders forward and produces either a sliceor a pull straight left.I know as this is what i used to do.

To put this right your downswing needs to start with your legs and hips rather than your arms, easier said than done.

From the top of your backswing with a majority of your weight on your right foot (right handers) just think of pushing off the right foot maintaining your head behind the ball this leads to a lateral hip movement before the rotation and automatically lets the hands drop inside the line leading to and in to square to in swing path.
It may sound pretty complicated but just remember to push off the right foot from the top and eventually it will get rid of your slice.
