This woodland track, which appeals to those who enjoy ‘big’ courses with plenty of length and space. At over 7,300 yards off the tips, it is just as well the fairways on this relatively recent addition to Spain’s portfolio are wide. A modern, muscular, well-groomed venue.

La Reserva de Sotogrande is a recent addition to the Sotogrande complex, but will only raise the place's reputation. Cabell Robinson has designed a great test through trees and around lakes; despite the golf course's wide fairways and large greens this is still a layout that will call for all the shots. 7,350 yards sounds scary, but a variety of tees alllows all standards to enjoy.

    Bit expensive but I much prefer it to the others in the area, always in great condition, and a test all the way round, with lightning greens.

    We had heard that La Reserva was the new course everyone wanted to play. I must say i was a little disapointed. The wind was in our faces for the first 3 holes making par 4's into par 5's for even the better players in our group. excellent practice facilities with free range balls, buggies not over-priced. Greens were a little 'grainy' compared to the outstanding San Roque. Some nice elevated t's on the par 3's and quite open if you are wayward off the t. plenty of lateral hazzards around the course to save taking 3 off the t. Maybe we'll risk going there again and hope the wind isn't blowing. 8/10 overall. Julia Roberts Golf Society
