PGA Golf de Catalunya

What we say

top100PGA Golf de Catalunya is a stunning golf course with a beautiful Pyrenees backdrop. It was 10 years in the making before finally opening to great acclaim in 1998. It staged the 1999 Gene Sarazen World Open and the following year’s Spanish Open. Sister magazine Golf World put it in Europe’s top 10 in 2001. Popular with the pros, hilly and tree-lined with the odd view of the Pyrenees. If you like golf played ‘downhill’ you’ll approve of this routing with many of the tees offering panoramic views of the obstacles ahead. A course that tests every club in the bag. This modern masterpiece is well worthy of the title of Spain’s premier course. It incorporates marked changes in elevation (and thus some spectacular tee shots), tree-lined fairways and occasional glimpses of the Pyrenees. It is also an exacting test of both the long and short game.

PGA Golf de Catalunya is sited on hilly woodland with views to the Pyrenees, this 1999 track always had the potential to be special – and it is. The Neil Coles/Angel Gallardo layout, which staged two European Tour events in its first year, bursts thrillingly through trees and around lakes to produce 18 holes of beauty and strategy.

This is as beautiful as a parkland lay out can get... I played there just before the new clubhouse was finished last summer, so I can't comment on the facilities. But hey, it's all about the course isn't it? I had an early morning start on the Stadium course, and that was perfect: crisp, quiet, and, not unimportantly in summer Spain, not too hot. The course is beautiful and well-balanced. Difficult at times, but never in such a way that a high handicapper like myself feels like giving up. I will be spending my vacation on the Costa Brava again late August, and I will definitely pay Golf de Catalunya a well-deserved visit again. They only thing it lacks perhaps is stunning views of the surrounding area, as it is neatly tucked away between the trees. Other courses in thevicinity offer great views on either the Pyrrenees or the sea or both, which add to the experience. Do bear in mind that that's just a minor point. PGA Golf de Catalunya remains a leading European course.

One of the best  courses I have played in my life. It's thesecond time I go and I really think that both courses, the Stadium and the Tour are probably the best in continental europe. Besides with their new and modern club house and the excellent hotel  makes the resort a really worthy place to go.

What a wonderful course. Our fourball played the Green course ,not pushed or held up. Exceptional value at around £40 in the deal we had. We hope to go back next year.

Fantastic, like playing on a carpet...and we stayed at the new hotel, which despite a few teething problems will be a formidable 4* hotel.
