Greetham Valley Golf Club – Lakes Course

Last Updated:

What we say

Greetham Valley Golf Club (Lakes Course) has improved beyond all recognition over the past few years and now offers two fine 18-hole golf courses (Lakes and Valley golf courses) plus an on-site hotel. The Lakes golf course is the no.1 layout and is usually where the majority of competitions are played. It should be treated with the utmost respect too because there’s plenty of trouble out there: it can bite.

As you would expect considering its name, you have to deal with plenty of water with the back nine starting and finishing with holes protected by the wet stuff. The 10th is an uphill par 3 over a pond while the second shot to the par 4 18th is equally fraught with danger in front of the green.

The Greetham Valley Golf Club  (Valley Course) initially opened in 1992 and became a 36 hole venue seven years later, with the introduction of the lakes course.

Set in 260 acres of picturesque Rutland countryside, Greetham Valley is a rapidly maturing golfing venue: it  has been carefully developed from traditional undulating farmland to create three diverse and interesting golf courses, each with their own unique challenges for every level of golfer.

Lakes, ponds, a winding stream, mature woods and a naturally contoured landscape of scenic valleys and rolling hills make Greetham Valley a beautiful environment and home to an abundance of wildlife.

I have been a member at Brampton Heath for 1yr and have played at other courses over the years. Played here as friend had been here on a society day and recommeded it. since then have played there a few times, summer, winter and have not been dissapointed.

Having not played the course before I thought it prudent to buy the course guide, which turned out to be a little out of date in places and vague in others. Small tree on the left it said. Twenty small trees on the left, have a guess at which one. From tee to green the course was in good condition. But it was just so dull. Sraight, wide fairway followed by straight wide fairway. Could be why I shot my best score of the year!

  • 3.5 out of 5 So good I had my wedding reception there!

A tough test of golf for golfers of any handicap. The valley course is the shorter; more quirky of the two courses and the lakes is a more traditional test of golf. The final few holes on both courses are the stars of the round, especially the 17th on the valley course which winds down the valley itself. The facilities are excellent, the food is superb and the staff are very friendly and competent. If you are in the area it is one to try and with the new hotel complex now open it is well worth staying.

  • 4 out of 5 Longer, but not as steep

A more traditional layout than the valley course, but just as interesting. Well worth the day out.

Took my society to play the lakes course. A challanging course with not too many lakes though. The staff were all very helpfull and couldn't do enough for us. The day was a real success and I would recomend it anyone.

The facilities far outweigh the course. The hotel is good, the clubhouse is good and the driving range is ace. The course is okay... simple as that!
