The Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club – Masters Course

What we say

Nestling in the Nottinghamshire countryside, Cotgrave Place Golf Club boasts two 18-hole golf courses plotted over 300 acres. The Open golf course comprises a front nine built around the stunning lake and a back nine winding through mature trees while the Masters layout - designed in part by Peter Alliss - combines ancient hedgerows and undulating fairways with large greens and strategically-placed water hazards.

Either the Masters or the Open with a 2-4-1 voucher is well worth the visit. Have played both courses a number of times and have enjoyed each round, very much.Either course is very well ppresented and course upgrades are ongoing keeping the standards very high 5*. Also two eat for£10:00 Very nice meals there is a lot of effort going into this club and the staff are very helpful. A very enjoyable experience. A must for your list.

  • 5 out of 5 Very good

After reading some of the previous comments left about the Nottinghamshire i was slightly unsure about what to expect. After playing both courses with 3 of my friends however i must say that we were very pleased with both the courses and the service. For the time of year i found that the courses were in brilliant condition, especially the greens and talking to the pro afterwards was told that the greens can reach 11.5 in the summer. The open course has water on quite a few of the holes and represents a decent test of golf with the masters course being slightly easier but still enjoyable. The service in the bar was friendly and fast and the food was good. There is also a driving range which is always a bonus. I was also told that they are planning a large renovation to parts of the clubhouse and that the new sole owner is planning on putting a lot more money into the club. All in all we were very happy with our experience at the Nottinghamshire and will be going back soon.

  • 2.5 out of 5 high expections

    By carl budgen

I played the masters course today free with a gift voucher , and i thought open and masters course can not wait !! i arrived great place ,nice views etc etc then 1st tee very friendly marshall really nice bloke great start. 2nd tee well !! not very well sign posted the buggys very poor ( sat navs not working and and not much power at all ) the course deteriorated from then on. Some holes really challenging but really confusing course. Well i suppose i did have high expections after just coming back from playing the kaanapali beach course in maui and the bali hai in las vegas , so maybe not a good course to come back and play 1st.

Since the work has finished on the front nine, this course is now much improved and a really good test. Clubhouse refurbished as well and everything in good nick.

  • 4 out of 5 Golf Organisers Day

    By gdjohnson

I played the Masters course on a Golf Society Organisers day in June 2008, all I can say is what a fantastic idea, for £40 a team we got a bacon roll and coffee on arrival, 18 holes, and a pork sandwich then a £40 off our next society day. How good value is that, and it worked as I've booked in for the Open course in November. Judging by the green fees and the name the Open course should be the better course. We played the Masters course and I have to say I was very, very impressed. We travelled 1 hour and 15 minuts from Sheffield and it was well worth the drive. The wind was very strong so we had to think more carefully about shots, unfortunately we were against the wind on all the par 5's which added to the challenge. The course is very interesting with varying holes, it was in excellent condition and the greens were immaculate , fast and very true. The only negative was trying to find the 10th , the sinage was poor and we wasted about 10 minutes trying to find it. The clubhouse was relaxed and accomodating. Overall it was a fantastic day, a superb idea that worked as I have now added both courses to our Society Calender now and for the future

I can agree with the previous comments about the quality of the service and hospitality at this club, but I found the Masters course to be woeful. The tees were in a poor state of repair, lorries and diggers were creating so much noise I thought I was on a building site and the mounds of earth around the course detracted from what could have been a reasonable course.

I'd agree with the previous comments. Lovely courses and the work being carried out will undoubtedly make them even better, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Not quite hostile, but near enough.
