Brancepeth Castle Golf Club

What we say

Brancepeth Castle golf club is located in the village of Brancepeth, which lies four miles east of the Cathedral City of Durham. This beautiful parkland course measuring 6400 yards, considered by many to be short in today’s golfing world, will still provide each player with an array of challenges, irrespective of their age or ability. Designed by the famous golf architect, Harry Colt, who took full advantage of the magnificent terrain to produce a layout that is considered one of the North-East’s finest.

Casual visitors, parties and corporate days are all welcome. We even have limited access to the course during weekends. Although we publish green fee rates we can be flexible depending on the size of the party.

  • 4 out of 5 must play course

If you are ever in the durham area, you simply must play this course. We had this course recommended to our golf society and played in July 2011. The weather wasn't great, but what a course. You stand on every tee and have to think about what club to take, in fact you have to think for every shot. The natural ravines provide a constant threat for any bad shots and Mr Colt really made the best of the 'fear' factor here. The par 3 9th and 10th are frighteningly good, there's no easy option on either hole, just suck it up and play your best shots or else. Anyone who dismisses the course because of it's length is entirely missing the point, this is golf as it should be, add to that the welcoming staff and natural beauty of the surrounding area and you have an absolute gem.
