Meltham Golf Club

What we say

Hidden up in the hills above Huddersfield, this is a cracking parkland-woodland course which oozes charm. A good score can be made, but try to overpower it and you will come a cropper.

Meltham Golf Club occupies a place in the heart of the beautiful and tranquil Pennines, just outside the village of Meltham itself, and within a couple of miles of Holmfirth, the small town made famous by the long-running BBC series, Last of the Summer Wine. Only six miles from the centre of Huddersfield, Meltham Golf Club is easily reachable from all parts of the North of England via the M62 motorway.

Set in beautiful woodland , the course boasts hundreds of mature trees, including oak, chestnut, beech, birch and mountain ash, as well as coniferous trees of several varieties. The view from the Clubhouse across the putting green towards the 1st hole and the 17th hole shows just a few of these trees.

The Clubhouse, Thick Hollins Hall, was originally the home of a local landowner, and when the golf club was founded in 1908, the hall became the centre of the club.

Played here in August using my 241 voucher. This is a good course for the club golfer, lots of interesting holes with large flat greens. Tree lined fairways make a good challenge without penalising you unfairly with lost balls. Thoroughly enjoyable. Nice welcome in the pro's shop and a lovely hot beef sandwich with gravy and chips to finish. A good day out..
