Selsdon Park Hotel & Golf Course

What we say

Literally down the road from the bustling Surrey suburbia that is Croydon, you’ll discover this gently undulating golfing paradise plotted within 250 acres of spectacular rolling parkland. The course was designed by five-times Open champion J.H. Taylor but has been extensively modified and improved in recent times. It shares star billing with a luxury hotel housed in a neo-Jacobean building.

The name ‘Selsdon’ means House on the Hill and the course certainly enjoys a magnificent prospect overlooking the Surrey Downs. Many fairway undulations means hanging lies are frequent while the wind tends to swirl around the greens. The 17th is a memorable par 3 from an elevated tee across a valley.

  • 4.5 out of 5 Silly Money!!!!

    By bearnandos

Decided to try this course due to the price - this website had a £10 offer via teeofftimes so thought we would give it a try. Didn't expect much for a green fee of £10 pp....but OMG was I wrong (which is very rare I might add). It is a very hilly course which allows it to have some amazing views - along with the excellent conditions of Tees, Fairways and Green....was Wow. Miles of lush green was all that could be seen.....not a brown patch of grass anywhere to be seen. This is now rated in my top 3 course in UK due to the value....if you are on a budget...This  should be your first port of call - really shows you that you don't have to pay a fortune of a brilliant round of golf.

  • 2 out of 5 Poor, Poor, Poor

    By simsini

Played here last summer and even the greens and tees were brown, let alone the fairways. Also the rough around the bunkers was not cut, making the course extremely unfair. All of our group agreed with this and there were single digit handicappers as well as high handicappers. Would not go back.

  • 4 out of 5 A sleeping giant about to reawaken

    By Bruce Halai-Carter

There was a time when Selsdon man was a well known phrase and Bob Torrence was the pro here. That was 30 years ago and the course has left to rot since - until a year ago it was bought and is now coming back to life. This is a serious course for serious players with punishing rough, tight fairways and enough elevated greens to be sponsored by stannah. If I were picky I would suggest that it needs some gardening done and some water to be truely great but otherwise well deserving of its top 10 spot and has the potential to be the best course in Surrey.

  • 4 out of 5 Great Break for Golfers and Non Golfers

    By MalcolmKF

A superb venue for a golf break even if not all golfers. Everyone very friendly and attentive, ensuring you have a good time. The food was excellent, well presented and you would never have guessed there were two weddings being held. The course was in excellent condition despite the deluge the day before and several stunning views greeted us as we played.

  • 4.5 out of 5 Excellent place to play and relax

    By aerogolfer

I got an excellent value deal for this place. It is top quality, from the food to the surroundings to the staff. The course is set in a valley and is up and down. The money they invested to drain the course has paid dividends as it was in fine condition destite the rain in the preceeding days. You would also not know that you are so close to London.
