Technology
Cobra’s Pro version of its BiO CELL driver, which Rickie Fowler helped develop. It is designed for touring pros and low-handicap amateurs, and offers a full fade bias with the lowest spin and trajectory of all three drivers in Cobra’s 2014 range. In addition to an extremely low centre of gravity, the Pro Driver also utilizes Cobra’s MyFly8 adjustable loft technology that allows golfers to choose from eight loft/trajectory settings (7.0°, 7.5°, 8.5°, 9.5°, 10.0° and three fade settings: 7.5°, 8.5° and 9.5°) while SmartPad delivers a square face at address regardless of loft/trajectory setting. BiO CELLS combined with E9 Face technology work to remove weight from the face, and reposition it low and back to deliver increased distance. Has the lowest CG location of any Cobra driver. Aimed at the faster swingers, it has adjustable loft from 7-10° via its MyFly technology on the hosel. There are also three fade settings and it comes in three colours, black, blue and orange.

Looks
When you combine the compact 440cc head with the deep face and colourful crown with subtle graphics, it creates a traditional shape with a modern twist.

Feel/sound
Quite firm feeling off the face with a dull sound.

Forgiveness
Didn’t appear to be as high as the other models in the Cobra 2014 range – you can tell it’s aimed at the accomplished golfer. The low-spin nature of the head meant it curved through the air easier than others, especially on shots struck poorly.

Performance
Cobra drivers have tended to launch quite high and I’ve needed to adjust the loft down in the past to create a playable ball flight. But the BiO CELL Pro bucks that trend and offers both low launch and spin characteristics fast swing speeds will enjoy. I actually needed to add loft, around the 10° mark, to achieve the longest carries. Better players will also enjoy the fade settings, offering a more controllable landing and increased accuracy.

Details
Available in right handed models in regular, stiff and x-stiff, and in three colours. Matrix Red-Tie 6Q3 shaft as standard or golfers can opt for the Diamana D+ 72 or the PXV Tour 52 shafts free of charge. Visit www.cobragolf.co.uk for more info.

  • 5 out of 5 Was Not Expecting That!

    By Belchook

Went for a fitting for my woods as I felt I was losing distance and more importantly control I had no pre-conceptions about which woods I preferred and tried 4 or 5 before I was handed a Bio Cell + with the stock Matrix Red tie X Stiff shaft. I swing around 105mph and figures on the monitor immediately showed an all-round improvement in dispersion and distance. Back spin was ridiculously low and even slightly off-centre strikes went pretty straight and without too much loss in distance. I have been using it for just over a month now and won't be swapping anytime soon - I also bought the matching 3 wood - awesome!

  • 4 out of 5 A really lovely club

    By Kathy Cakebread

Unlike some other notable drivers on the market the new BIO CELL Pro driver from Cobra is a really lovely club that is designed with a low center of gravity to produce faster ballspeeds and more distance. The compact, 440cc clubhead is made to appeal to better players who want a combination of power and workability in a more pleasing size and shape Other features of the BIO CELL Pro include adjustable loft technology that offers eight trajectory settings, an adjustable sole pad that delivers a square clubface at address regardless of loft, and a lightweight clubface that allows more weight to be positioned low and deep in the clubhead. The three color options (black, blue aster, and vibrant orange) are very varied which is surprising for a club and certainly is very pleasing for me as a woman player. There is also a choice of one of two custom shaft options without extra charge allow for further customization.
