What we say...

Last year’s model was the equal longest on test; this year it tied with two other clubs for the title. An updated shape and PowerBow weighting has sent the CG even further back and deeper to aid workability, while the huge MOI adds forgiveness. To carry the ball this far with so little backspin suggests the new Sumo would be the longest total distance club on offer and this alone will grab interest. However, the Sumo 5000 is a complete package combining looks with improved impact sound and outstanding performance.

Pro Verdict: Great feel with an almost perfect fl ight for me. The reduced spin maxed out my hits, including at 305 yards the longest drive I hit all day!

Tester Comments: “I really enjoyed hitting this . A great driver”… “A very powerful club”… “Long, long, long! Ver y solid on off-centre hits too.”

One of the best drivers ever! I have tested other drivers such as the Ping G10 and the Taylormade Burner and neither of them give the same forgiveness, and at the same time, leave a straight ball flight with maximum distance (280 yards for a 20 handicap is not bad). The best investment for me and I would recommend this driver to any range of handicap!!!

I purchased this driver a couple of months back second hand from a Golf Store which resulted in being a bargin for the price. I have been playing golf seriously for 2 years now, handicap of 17 and cautious when it comes to using a driver on any occassion. However, I have to say Nike have nailed it with this one. Like most I became cautious with Nike trying to jump on the band wagon but whatever it is they do when producing equipment, keep doing it. My drives go straight (if I am standing correctly) and god does the ball fly. My strokes have reduced, my confidence has increased and I can only assume it will get better.. My advice, buy one you wont regret it.

Brilliant driver, purchased it about a year ago, replacing my old Mizuno MX-500, and it made an immediate differnce, as most shots go long and straight, with not too much height even though it is an 11.5 degree loft. I am 14 years old and i consistently hit it 280 yards straight, so thats all i am going to say. Brilliant driver, one of the best, if not the best out there.

I already owned an original Sumo which I have loved. I finally decided to update so wanted to use the same brand and was amazed with the noise this makes. Previously the traditional shaped driver had made a more traditional noise whereas the latest version makes a similar 'boom' to the square headed version. Having said all that I must say the club performs excellently and my drives are flying straighter than ever and with as much distance I have ever seen. I have purchased the 11.5 degree version with a Proforce V2 stiff shaft (which is conveniently a matching yellow to teh club) Despite many comments that 11.5 is too high I find that the ball flight is excellent and the club still allows an element of playability while hitting it straight by default. All in all a great club especially when you get used to the noise.

Just bought this driver at great price of £199 and it is awesome. Very light compared to my FT-3 I have been using but forgiving and long. Well worth consideration.
