What we say...

Tech:

Srixon’s Action Mass technology is key to the Z 355 series. They reckon extensive digital and player testing’s revealed the most effective way to increase consistency is to position more weight in the head, and use a counter balanced shaft. It basically means you swing at the same speed but the club’s travelling quicker at impact which should equate to more distance.

Our verdict:

Srixon say their 355’s Action Mass Technology improves club speed organically, which we definitely have to agree with, as all three testers saw a rise in club speed over Srixon’s Z 545 driver. That extra club speed translated on average to 1.5mph extra ball speed and an extra six yards of carry distance which for most club golfers is about half a club less into the green. The 355 isn’t really aimed at the longest hitters but instead those with slightly lower swing speeds looking to maximise what they’ve got. We were pretty impressed then when it came to looking at distance, the 355 was narrowly outside the top half dozen usual suspects.

Bottom line:

Stacks of golfers would benefit from wringing out every last drop of club speed from their swing, without having to adopt a new technique. If you can bear to lump yourself into the “slower swing” category the Z 355 can seriously deliver.
