What we say...

Everything about the TaylorMade Burner has been designed for speed, from the lightweight shaft and grip to the shape of the head, to allow for a faster swing and therefore more distance.

With an average carry of 299 yards in our pro’s hands, you can see it’s a powerful proposition, and if your game evolves around hitting long drives, then by all means give this model a try.

If, on the other hand, you like hitting fairways and making a score, we reckon the Burner’s long shaft might give the everyday golfer some consistency issues.

With the highest MOI allowed by the game’s authorities, the bullet-shaped Burner is exceptionally long thanks to a SuperFast shaft that’s longer than standard.

TaylorMade redesigned their Burner Driver with a super-stable, high Moment of Inertia head shape design, combined with Inverted Cone Technology for greater forgiveness and more consistent distance on off-centre hits.

The new TaylorMade Burner Driver utilises next generation Dual Crown Technology incorporating a dual crown and large powerbase to promote a lower centre of gravity in the clubhead for a higher launch and lower spin to increase the distance of your drives.

  • 5 out of 5 Taylor Made Burner Driver

I bought one of these after one of my friends, who had alway been shorter than me off the tee, started belting the ball 30 yards past me after he bought one.  I borrowed it and found that it was both longer and straighter than the Callaway Diablo driver I was using. I therefore went and purchased a 10.5 degree one from American Golf at the discounted price of £119. I agree with the other reviewers that the shaft is too long and I generally grip down a bit, which makes the club more controllable. If there is a long open hole I can go to the end of the grip and belt the ball miles (for me anyway). You have to keep the swing slow and smooth to achieve this. The other issue is that this driver won't fit across the boot of my medium sized car when in my golf bag, which is a slight inconvenience. Overall I am delighted with this driver, particularly at the discounted price I paid for it.

I've had this club for about six months now and it's been the best club in the bag by a long way! I have the HT loft reg shaft that launches high and goes miles!

Invested in a 10.5 reg shaft version and it's the single best thing I've ever done. It's so forgiving, good selection for a wide range of abilities and the distance is incredible. With the new version about to be released, you could pick this up quite cheep so from low to high handicappers you should really give this a try.

I had been using a 9.5 degree stiff shaft R7. When I hit it, it flew off the face of the club but more often than not, I missed fairway after fairway. It's no fun hitting out sideways or been forced to lay up due to bad lies in the rough. I now have the 10.5 regular shaft Burner and am hitting more fairways. I tend to hit it left to right with the Burner but by hitting more fairways, I can concentrate more on other parts of my game. Recommended.

You won't pick this up and rip it down the fairway unless you already hit a decent shaped drive. But hit it right and you'll knock it 300+ yards, hit it wrong and you'll knock it 290 yards..... into the woods, water whatever. Immense in the right hands but can cause mayhem in the wrong ones.
