What we say...

The shape of the XR fairway wood has been altered, featuring a higher toe, flatter leading edge and shallower face to improve playability from the fairway. It’s also said to be 10 yards longer than X2 Hot fairway thanks to a 36 per cent thinner Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup raising the spring-like effect.

The XR hybrids also feature a thinner, forged Hyper Speed Face Cup and a bigger Internal Standing Wave, raising the MOI and lowering the CG. The result is 13 more yards over X2 Hot. It’s also more forgiving, yet has a CG that’s 46 per cent lower. The standard XR hybrid has more draw bias than the compact Pro version.

The three fairway woods of Callaway’s new XR range target improved launch, power and forgiveness.

The XR Deep (14°), XR Pro (14°, 16° and 18°) and XR (15°, 17°, 19°, 21°, 23°, 25°) fairways all feature the Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup that permits a thinner face that makes the sweetspot 16% larger and increases ball speeds across the face. The re-worked Internal Standing Wave, a curve of metal behind the bottom of the face, helps reduce spin by 200rpm to promote a straighter, more penetrating flight with more roll.

The deeper face of the XR Deep makes it great off the tee. The XR Pro is weighted to help shape the ball. The XR has a flatter leading edge and a shallower profile for fairway play. They feature the powerful new Project X LZ shaft.

The XR Pro (16°, 18°, 20°, 23°) and XR (19°, 22°, 25°, 28°) hybrids enjoy more MOI and forgiveness than their predecessors and the lowest CG Callaway has ever produced in a hybrid while maintaining high-speed face flex. The XR Pro has a more compact head designed for better players.
