In terms of dispersion, the forgiving nature of the cavity back design certainly helped Jon, as his ball dispersion stats with the FG Tour were right up there with his best in this category. There is progressive offset – more as the iron gets longer – ideal for those harder-to hit long irons. These are
affordable, easy on the eye, with penetrating flight, forgiveness, “workability” and are a worthy winner.

With visual cues reminiscent of forged classics like the FG51 and Gooseneck, the new FG Tour is designed for Tour professionals and better-playing amateurs, and is our first forging to feature a playable and forgiving cavity-back design.

FG Tour prototypes were play-tested for more than 18 months on the worldwide professional tours by Padraig Harrington, Ricky Barnes and leading amateurs. Refinements from this play-testing were critical in finalizing shape and weighting.

Tour-Preferred Feel: Precision forged from a mild carbon steel, the Tour-proven design incorporates minimally progressive offests, a square toe blade shape and thin top line to fit the better player's eye. A Tour-configured sole design promotoes better turf interaction over a wide range of lies.

Mass Distribution: The shallow cavity redistributes weight from the heel into the toe, positioning the centre of gravity in the centre of the face and increasing MOI for stability and a more solid feel.The Wilson Staff FG Tour Irons not only won a Gold Award at this years Today's Golfer Irons test but they also were the 'Best on Test' (found in issue 270).
