What we say...

Technology
Dunlop’s DP Pro putter is GSA: Green Speed Adjustable. A sliding bar behind the face lets you adjust weight position according to green pace: for slow greens, moving the weight to the front puts more mass directly behind the face for a firmer feel and greater initial ball speed. Dunlop also say its new protruding face eliminates the risk of the insert borders interfering with the strike. You can loosen and adjust the sliding weight using a small Allen key in both sides of the weight itself, which you keep safe in the headcover. Dunlop says that by protruding the surlyn insert and dropping it lower on the face, they eliminate strike errors to promote a smoother roll and feel.

Reader Reviews:

● MP Hideous, yet really good. The insert feels ever so soft, and the ball comes off the face lovely, rolling the ball very well.

● JC The feel is very, very soft and gave me great consistency for length. Didn’t suit my eye but performance was good.

● JCox Very ugly and heavy, but the softest I hit all day. Despite the weight I had to hit it to get it to the hole.

● DL Impact was probably too soft for me, and at odds with a putter that felt a little bit cumbersome. Interesting technology, but not for me.

Tested
As reviewed in our 2014 Putters Test:
Design wise there’s a lot going on – multiple alignment aids, protruding face, sliding weights – it’s distracting. It felt heavy regardless of weight position. Didn’t find moving the weight had a significant impact on the speed, but the sound with weight back became louder and more metallic. Looks a tad clunky, and was difficult to get a consistent roll, especially from long range. The stock grip is good, thick and spongy, to help keep the hands quiet.

I like the feel and design of the putter but hate the protruding insert as it don't give any feel to the put you are making I also find it gives a inconsistent roll of the ball. On long put's I can't seem to get much distance as the insert seem's to Cushing the ball. I would like to get it changed to a milled metal insert if that is possible. Could you please let me know if this can be done and where. My e-mail address is jtw28@msn.com.
