What we say...

2011 Review

A slightly disappointing display for the Method, especially given the performance of the 005 in the mallet category of the test. George felt it was too close in terms of style and design to the 005 to be considered different. Jon putted really well with it, but admitted he felt more comfortable and more confident with the bigger 005 version. George, who putted well with both the mallet and the blade version of the Method, had a nightmare from the shorter distance, recording only two from his five putts.

The Nike Method 003 Putter not only won a gold award in this years TG’s putters test but also won the best on test award. And can be found in issue 272.

2010 Review

It’s well-worth remembering that just 10 short years ago Nike Golf was very much in its infancy. Tiger didn’t switch to the ball until 2000 and some of their earlier clubs struggled to make an impact. But just a decade down the road, they are churning out better and more innovative products, such as the VR irons, the STR8-Fit driver and now the stunning Method range of putters. There are five in total; three blades and two mallets.

We tested the 003, a classic mid-mallet design; and the blend of technology and cracking looks got the test team excited! On the face, the Method 003 boasts Polymetal Groove Technology which helps to get the ball rolling quickly with a load of topspin. This means it runs smoother and the milled steel face offers fantastic feedback when it comes to sound at impact. The putter helped Jon to hole out from six feet on each occasion, as it did with Tom. Our pro was very impressed with the weight in the head and he was also accurate from longer range. Mike wasn’t overly impressed with the looks but he did like the slightly lighter feel. Chris admitted to never really being a fan of previous Nike putters, but commented that this one was far better than anything he had used before. He also commented on the distinctive alignment aid as well as the very comfortable grip that is fitted as standard on the Method range.

While our test quartet all gave it their thumbs-up, if you want an approval from a higher authority it’s well-worth knowing that the Method range is a big hit on Tour. Another impressive Test result from a company that is making massive strides in the golf equipment market.
