What we say...

The Cleveland CG12 scored highly in the spin stakes and certainly has the technology to back it up. The fancy new Zip grooves really do the business, giving a real showman’s spin-and-stop on shots. They’ve been made 25 per cent bigger than normal grooves, to help them channel more dirt and debris off the clubface and give more consistent distance control.

The nice thing about the CG12 is that it has a lot of technology behind the design, but when you look down to address your ball has a traditional, classic shape and look that will appeal to many.

The only thing that let it down in our test was the shiny chrome finish, which was distracting in bright sunlight. But with the option of a black pearl finish instead, we’re sure the CG12 will be a popular choice.

Cleveland usually make great wedges. This is another to add to their hall of fame. Jon loved the clean look of the CG12 while Chris commented that the way it sat behind the ball really added confidence. That said, Dan was a little concerned by a lack of feel.

Cleveland Wedges User Reviews

  • 5 out of 5 CG12

This is one of the nicest wedges around at the moment. The zip grooves generate so much spin and feel around the greens is unbelievable. The CG12 is much better than the over-rated Vokey Wedge by Titleist. A recommended buy for any low to mid handicapper.

Im hitting it extremely high at the moment and i am liking it alot. Im not confident with myself playing full wedges but this one is a big confidence boost. I get 2 yards of backspin even more if i hit a full lob wedge, It may not be the best choise for low handicaper but it will work for them and i think the review below is not entierly true. Using it well.

A nice looking club but its promise of even higher spin is rubbish. I play off 6 and have never had any problems getting the ball to stop but I thought it might give me a bit of edge around the greens. I have to admit I cant get it to stop, it doesn't seem to bite in as fast as previous wedges and is very inconsistent with the amounts of spin from the edge of the green. Stay away from this very average, high cost wedge.
