Thirty years after opening, England’s most famous golf course – The Brabazon at The Belfry – is undergoing one of the most significant revamps of its life.
 
Changes are currently being made to the spectacular Ryder Cup course in a determined bid to make it even better…and tougher, specially with the superstars competing in the Quinn Direct British Masters in September in mind.
 
Most attention has been focused on the new, more demanding par 4 6th which designer Dave Thomas reckons will soon rival numbers 10 and 18 for superhole status. “The 6th is not just another hole now, it’s been given more bite with players (pros that is) now required to hit a 6 instead of a 9 iron into a tricky green which now lurks over water and will be surrounded by trees. It should create as much interest and excitement as the 10th and 18th holes.
