St Andrews Links Trust welcomes the Web inside Castle Course Clubhouse

St Andrews Links Trust is welcoming Web viewers around the world inside its newest clubhouse with a Google Maps Business View® tour.

The interactive marketing tool uses Google Street View® technology to allow potential guests to find the tour via Google Search, Maps, Google+ or its website and ‘walk in’ through the front door and take a tour 24/7 in the same way they ‘walk’ around the streets in Google Maps’ Street View®

The tour of The Castle Course Clubhouse, which is one of three clubhouses operated by St Andrews Links – which manages and maintains seven links courses, including the world famous Old Course – was shot by the Mr Droogle Google Trusted Photography franchise whose clients also include Crieff Hydro Hotel, Fife Cultural Trust and other award-winning Scottish brands.

It allows viewers to walk around the Visit Scotland five-star-rated visitor attraction on the east side of the town and see the facilities available to members of the public, from the shop and restaurant to the locker rooms, as well as enjoy its stunning views of the award-winning seventh course at the Home of Golf.

Speaking about why they decided to pilot the Google marketing tool with a tour of The Castle Clubhouse, St Andrews Links Commercial Director, Danny Campbell, said: “The virtual tour of The Castle Course Clubhouse is the next step in our commitment to increasing our digital offering to customers around the world. The virtual tour is a fantastic interactive resource to fully explore the Clubhouse’s offerings and whet the appetite ahead of a visit to The Castle Course.”

Speaking about the tour, multiple award-winning Google Trusted Photographer Drew Cunningham, said, “We are delighted and honoured to have been selected by St Andrews Links Trust to shoot this tour. It’s a fantastic facility and we feel it’s a great way of showcasing its quality and strengths.

“As with our tour of Crieff Hydro Hotel, we feel blessed our first shoot in what is a new business category for us should be for such a prestigious name in this field. We look forward to seeing what results they get with it.”

Mr Droogle won two sales awards from Google in 2013 and created the biggest Google virtual tour in Scotland — for Crieff Hydro — which was also the first in the world to allow a viewer to swim a length of a pool there. In 2014 it shot all of Fife Cultural Trust’s major venues, including the Rothes Halls, Glenrothes, and Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline, and Scotland’s largest factory tour for Dovetail. It’s currently finishing groundbreaking sports shoots for Crieff Hydro, due to be unveiled soon
