New 2011 Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x balls unveiled

Titleist have launched the new 2011 update for their renowned Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls.

The Pro V1 brand has been the number one selling ball in golf since four months after its launch in December 2000 and Titleist say they have raised the bar in terms of performance and technology even further with the new offering.

More than 100 Tour players have already put the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x balls into play since  prototypes were first seeded in October 2010 with Padraig Harrington recording the first Tour win with the Pro V1x when he captured the Iskandor Johor Open in Malaysia – the first time he teed up the golf ball in competition.

The new Pro V1 has been engineered to increase spin control afforded by the golfer and deliver a more consistent ball flight. This is achieved with the introduction of an innovative new technology for processing the core of the ball and a revolutionary dimple pattern.

The new 352 dimple pattern utilises five different dimple sizes (compared to 392 dimples in the 2009 Pro V1) for more surface coverage and three axes of symmetry; resulting in improved aerodynamics and a more penetrating ball flight, which holds its line in the wind.

Meanwhile the new Pro V1x is designed to deliver lower spin off the driver and long irons for added distance and a more consistent flight while still maintaining control on the greens.

It is a four-piece design and features a large, high-velocity dual core with a soft centre, responsive ionomeric casing layer, urethane elastomer cover and a new tiled 328 multi-dimple design (compared to 332 in the 2009 Pro V1x).  This high-coverage dimple pattern with seven different dimple sizes has three axes of symmetry to produce a higher trajectory.

Both models will be available at retail in February 2011 with RRP of £50 per dozen.
