Win! Have your clubs regripped with Golf Pride

We’ve teamed up with the world’s No.1 grip Golf Pride to give you the chance to find out how new grips can improve your game.

We are looking for four golfers who are using old, worn grips to take part in an exclusive day where you’ll be able to choose a new set of grips for all 14 clubs.

The event will take place at Thorpe Wood Golf Club in Peterborough, Cambs, on January 9, 2015. The day will consist of coffee on arrival and the chance to see Golf Pride’s 2015 grip range. We will change six or seven clubs before you play so you can compare the new and old grips over nine holes. We will then change the rest after the round.

As a rule of thumb, you should regrip once every year or every 40 rounds. Regardless of how often you play, ozone, heat, dirt and oils are constantly at work breaking down the materials that make up your grips.

Granted, frequent play and personal preference may dictate regripping sooner, but with normal use there’s enough degradation of the material after a year to warrant fresh grips. Keep in mind that grips lose a significant amount of their original feel long before they become hard and slick.

Because it happens slowly over time, most golfers fail to notice it. That’s important to remember because just a tiny, imperceptible slip at contact will be magnified to many yards by the time the ball reaches its target. Many people find that getting in the routine of regripping every spring as the golf season “officially” begins is the easiest way to remember.

To stand a change of being selected for the day, send an email including your name, age, handicap, phone number and how long you’ve had your current grips – and ideally a picture of them – to reader.reviews@todaysgolfer.co.uk

You must be available to travel to Thorpe Wood GC on Friday, January 9 and be happy to appear in video and a forthcoming issue of Today’s Golfer magazine. The participants will be selected and notified on Monday, January 5.
