Mizuno unveil new JPX EZ Driver, Fairway and Hybrid

Published:

Mizuno reckon previous moveable weight drivers have been difficult to hit because the mass taken up creating the ports, weights and tracks raises the cg and moves it closer to the clubface. Their solution is the JPX EZ which has a simple 3 track weighting system and single 10g weight to offer the same levels of forgiveness as a non-adjustable model.

The three track adjustability offers a fade, draw or neutral bias so you can tailor ball flight to suit your game. Mizuno’s engineers have created a lightweight chassis inside the head which allows for the creation of the slide tracks and weight which also help improve moi. The whole set up means weight is positioned low and deep which for golfers means a high forgiving ball flight.

A larger clubface and front to back profile mean the JPX EZ have a larger more stable footprint which aids playability. Mizuno also reckon the rounded crown of the JPX EZ helps increase face flex particularly for slower swing speeds and off centre hits, whilst a “Quick Switch” hosel allows a 4 degree loft range adjustment.

Don’t expect to see these in golf shops until early 2016. When they do appear you’ll have the choice of a 10.5 deg loft with either a Fujikura Orochi or Fujikura Six shaft as standard.

JPX EZ Fairways and Hybrids

Just like the JPX drivers the Fairways and Hybrids benefit from a larger confidence inspiring footprint which Mizuno say aids launching it high and long but with the addition of a softer for stopping shots quickly on greens. A newly expanded Shockwave Sole contracts and expands at impact increasing energy transfer to the ball. Extra mass in the sole helps lower the centre of gravity to maintain ball speed even when hit directly off the turf.

A waffle design inside the crown eliminates extra weight which is relocated in the sole to produce a forgiving high flight. Just like the driver the fairways and hybrids will also feature a “Quick Switch” hosel which allows up to a 4 degree adjustment in loft.

Expect to see 15deg, 18deg and 21deg lofted Fairways and 16deg, 19deg, 22deg and 25deg Hybrids instore early in 2016.
