Ping reveal new 2017 i200 irons.

Ping’s new i200 irons combine better looks with improved performance.

Technology trends in drivers move quicker than Nico Rosberg after winning the F1 world title, which means they can be difficult to keep up with.

But when it comes to irons, significant steps forward are much harder to come by.

That was until now, anyway.

Ping says it has significantly moved things on with the i200 irons.

How? Their faces are 30 per cent thinner than the previous “i” model, which means a seven per cent jump in MOI and forgiveness.

The i200s are aimed at the in-between golfer – that player who’s confident enough not to need the full-on game improvement tech offered by Ping’s legendary G iron, but who still wants more playability than the iBlades used by 95 per cent of Ping’s tour players.

The versatile i200s cater for that kind of golfer perfectly, as they roll lots of the features confident club golfers like into a single, elegant design.

There’s a cavity back, so you get a good degree of forgiveness. The lofts are a fraction stronger than the iBlade, so you get plenty of distance.

And thanks to the shaping and design of the head, the chassis is compact enough to suit the eye of the better player.

Throw it all together with possibly the nicest finish Ping has ever used on an iron, plus eight premium shaft choices at absolutely no extra charge, and you’ve got an iron that will push the buttons of plenty of decent club golfers.
