taylormade tour truck

TaylorMade Golf has officially unveiled its new new European Tour Truck at Wentworth Golf Club, home of the European Tour.

The event, which was attended by TaylorMade staff player Darren Clarke and the TaylorMade Tour truck Team signifies an exciting advancement to the TaylorMade’s Tour offering and reflects its position as the No.1 Driver, No.1 Fairway Wood and No.1 Iron on the European Tour.

The TaylorMade Tour truck which has twin slide out pods, and is the first of its kind on the professional golf circuit was manufactured by JS Fraser, a company famous for its work on trucks for the leading manufacturers in Formula 1.

The truck weighs over 34 tonnes and features a hi-tech workshop area which includes loft/lie machines, a gripping station, metalwood adjusters, shaft cutters, belt sanders and more as well as an office/meeting room and a 32” LCD Flatscreen TV, DVD and CD players.

The truck also features 4 hydraulic levelling legs for when stationary at events and a 65 gallon fuel tank.

Commenting on the new TaylorMade Tour truck Darren Clarke stated “The Tour Truck has become an increasingly vital part of life on Tour for the players. The new TaylorMade truck is a welcome addition to the offering from TaylorMade and will help the tour staff immensely to service all the players needs.

“Golf equipment is so vital in the modern game so to have a facility of this quality that enables the team to build and tweak product is extremely beneficial. It is quite breathtaking when you see the Truck up close and it’s going to generate a lot of interest when it makes its first Tournament appearance.”

Ian Watts, Sports Marketing Director, was very excited about the addition to TaylorMade’s Tour offering stating “To have a truck like this on hand at Tour events with all its advanced technologies and facilities, will give our TaylorMade and adidas staff players an added level of service and quality worthy of TaylorMade’s position as No. 1 Driver, No. 1 Fairway and No. 1 Iron on the European Tour*.

“This is an amazing feat of engineering and we are looking forward to getting it to its first European Tour Event in Portugal . The TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour team are all very excited about it and know our Tour staff players will feel the same.”

The technology involved in this particular truck bears many similarities to that of a Formula One teams paddock truck and we are looking forward to seeing the TaylorMade-adidas team continue their dominance on the European Tour in 2008.”

The truck, The truck, which will travel over 20,000 miles a year, will be the biggest on the European Tour and leaves for its first event, the Estoril Open de Portugal.
