Fourteen aces registered at Rudding Park

This season has been a memorable one at Harrogate’s Rudding Park Golf Club with 14 golfers achieving golf’s holy grail – the hole-in-one.

It’s all been happening on the top North Yorkshire resort’s two courses – the 18-hole Hawtree and the six-hole Repton, both designed to USGA standards by leading architect Martin Hawtree.

Robin Lang won a £40,000 car as he secured an ace on the 8th at the Asda Charity Golf Day though he only realised what he had achieved when Barry Williams, Chief Purchasing CEO of Asda, and Phil Neville, former Manchester United player, screamed with delight as they witnessed the ball go in the hole.

Another ace highlight occurred during the first round of the 2014 Presidents Salver when Rudding Park member, Michael Preece, carded his first ever hole in one – a well struck shot that he saw drop in from the tee.

Golfers also have the chance to win over £1,900 in the Rudding Park Hole in One Competition. Everyone playing a round on the Repton Short Course is eligible to enter and if they card a hole in one on the signature hole, a replica of the world famous 17th at Sawgrass, they will win the total prize fund. Entry to the competition is £1 and the total prize fund will increase each day until a hole in one is achieved.

James King, Golf Manager at Rudding Park says: “Congratulations to all the golfers with hole in ones to their name. Our new Hole In One Competition has been set up to celebrate this achievement and we cannot wait to see who will be our first winner as the Repton Short Course is played by everyone from members and golf societies to visitors and families.”
