American Golf is all set for National Golf Month

American Golf is in the final stages of preparation for its nationwide support of National Golf Month. With several initiatives lined up across the month of May the company is ready to play an integral role in National Golf Month’s drive to grow the game of golf.

Doug Poole, Director of National Golf Month is delighted with the support shown by American Golf. “To have the support of American Golf is fantastic for National Golf Month. With so many venues and PGA Professionals on hand to offer free coaching, the work that they’re putting into helping the initiative will have a real impact on growing the game of golf.”

With 73 stores signed up for free coaching sessions, American Golf is providing hundreds of opportunities for anyone wanting to pick up a club for the first time or brush up on their golfing skills. The hour long sessions are open to everyone and all participants will receive a two pack of Wilson DX2 soft balls to set them on their way. Specific women’s and junior sessions are also available at many stores, a move aimed at removing some of the barriers to participation in these under-represented groups.

To underline its commitment to the women’s game, American Golf has teamed up with the Sport England This Girl Can campaign to promote golf as an accessible, healthy sport. To coincide with National Golf Month, American Golf will be launching its new web pages aimed at removing barriers to participation and promoting the benefits of golf. Through joint promotion with This Girl Can, American Golf will reach a mainstream audience of non-golfers who will have immediate access to free National Golf Month taster sessions.

Dan Gathercole, Head of Marketing at American Golf commented, “Women’s participation in golf is key to growing the game but picking up a club for the first time can be a daunting experience. Through National Golf Month we’re offering girls and women the chance to come in store with their friends and get a taste for the game in a relaxed environment with our PGA professionals. To have the chance to promote golf to a whole new audience through our work with This Girl Can and then have free sessions available through National Golf Month is a huge opportunity to help grow the game.”

American Golf will also be getting behind the National Golf Month 30ft Putt challenge. Each store will line up their putts, aiming to be the most inventive 30ft putters in the company. Head office has laid down the gauntlet with this video  http://bit.ly/1OO79dj and there will be fierce competition from the stores to go one better and take the American Golf bragging rights.

American Golf’s support of National Golf Month is the first of several initiatives it will undertake this year to help grow the game. The company will hold its first ever 9 hole Championship and Long Drive Championship and also roll out its successful Junior Championship nationwide.
