When Britain’s most-decorated golfer selects his favourite UK courses, you had better sit up and take notice. Sir Nick Faldo’s illustrious career saw him win six Majors, while playing virtually all of the world’s leading courses. Since retiring he has moved into course architecture and has created outstanding layouts across the planet. He has no doubts whatsoever about his no.1, saying: “After winning consecutive Opens there, I have to plump for Muirfield. But it’s a great golf course anyway, there’s something special about it. It’s been pretty darn good to me, and it’s my style of golf course, a real challenge. Every shot has to be thought out.”

The former world No1 – now 266 in the world – sat down with the media to discuss the event, and gave some insight into the current state of his game, playing with today’s youngsters and the changes he’s made to his swing.

Stars launched a new campaign to get more girls into golf

Ladies Tour star Charley Hull and BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty are leading a new drive to get more women playing golf. A video campaign called #ThisGirlGolfs is designed to shift the perception that it’s a man’s game, and inspire participation by showcasing women who are already enjoying the game at all levels.
