Revealed: the best luxury cars of 2018

Want to cut a dash in the golf club car park? If you have cash to splash and are in the market for a new upmarket motor, our colleagues at Parkers.co.uk have named the best luxury vehicles on sale in their New Car of the Year Awards 2018.

Today’s Golfer has teamed up with Parkers to name the Best Luxury Car of the year. Choose one of these models and you’ll stand out at the golf club or any business meeting – and the category includes everything from cosseting crossovers to luxury limos and sports saloons.

However, the winner was the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, a traditional four-door saloon with a huge boot to take your golf clubs and trolleys. It’s been around for decades, and has been at the forefront of automotive luxury and technology the whole time – but the latest 2018 S-Class moves the goalposts again.

One of the most advanced cars in the brand’s line-up, the S-Class offers class, style, a vast array of advanced technology to not only pamper the driver and his or her passengers, but to also keep them safe on the road with the latest in driver assistance systems.

Yet with a huge interior and vast boot for all of your sporting needs, the S-Class is a luxury car that works if you’re not being chauffeured everywhere, as well. There’s a range of performance petrol models as well as more frugal diesels, meaning there’s something to suit all tastes.

If a big saloon isn’t enough to impress your compatriots on the green, though, then the runners-up may catch your eye.

More bling for your drive: the Bentley Bentayga

Highly recommended is the Bentley Bentayga, which brings old-school British luxury into the 21st century in the form of the company’s first ever off-roader. Prices kick off at around £136,000.

Bentley Bentayga: the ultimate golfers' SUV?

Like the Mercedes, it offers cutting-edge technology, but dresses it up in whatever kind of clothing you desire like any other Bentley model – be it bright colours, subdued colours, tan leather or black leather, and everything in between. It has moved the game on for the Crewe-based company, and is by far the most practical luxury car for days at the golf club.

If the Bentayga is too gauche for your tastes, the Porsche Panamera takes a sporty, high-tech approach to luxury. It’s the driver’s choice.

Porsche Panamera

With sleeker looks than ever before, a fabulous interior dominated by a vast, modern touchscreen and practical hatchback body style with a big boot capable of swallowing a couple of golf bags, the Porsche offers buyers a plethora of talents, and will cater to whatever mood you’re in. If it’s a sleek motorway cruiser or B-road bruiser, there’s a Panamera for you.
