Fantasy Golf: Canadian Open preview

Published:

This week the 2014 Fantasy Golf Game continues as the Canadian Open returns to the Royal Montreal Golf Club.

Founded in 1873 The Royal Montreal Golf Club is the oldest golf club in North America. Montreal was the first host of the Canadian Open in 1904 and since then has hosted the tournament, eight times.
The club was one of the five founding Clubs of the Royal Canadian Golf Association, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1995.
Players will be tested on the club’s Blue Course which measures in at 7,153 yards and plays as a par 70. Although some of golf’s finest will be taking a rest after The Open, Hoylake, this will be good for players to test their skills before the PGA Championship.
Dustin Johnson £3.5m
Johnson showed promise at Hoylake with some impressive displays and respectfully finished T12. Last month the American had a great run at The U.S. Open finishing T4. As one of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour and a good run of form Johnson is a good call to take top prize.
Jim Furyk £2.2m
The world number ten has finished T4 and T12 in his last two. The two time Canadian Open winner who looked good at Hoylake will still be hoping to impress and secure a Ryder Cup team spot.
Eric Compton £0.6m
Luke Donald £3m
It’s been a difficult season for Donald who was cut form the US Open and finished poorly at Hoylake. But with a second place finish at the RBC Heritage, Donald will look to get back into good form.
Matt Kuchar £3m
Despite a poor run of play at The Open, Kuchar has performed well this season having won the RBC Heritage in April the world number seven finished T12 at the US Open and will be hoping to improve his form.
Mike Weir £0.5m
Joining other members of homegrown stars at tournament is Sarnia Ontario born Weir who has had a difficult season on the PGA Tour but will be hoping to do well on home soil.
