Chris Kirk claims fourth US Tour win

American Chris Kirk clinched his fourth US Tour victory at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial thanks to a par-saving 7-foot putt after an errant tee shot at the 18th hole.

Kirk edged home by a single with a closing round of 66, giving him a -12 (268 total), one ahead of Masters champion Jordan Spieth, playing partner Brandt Snedeker and Jason Bohn.

After Kirk hooked his tee shot at the final hole into the left rough, he hit his approach from 155 yards over the green. But he recovered with a nice chip setting up the winning putt.

Snedeker, who closed with a 67, hit a similar tee shot as Kirk on the final hole and hit to 12ft. But his birdie effort, which would have tied with Kirk, slid left of the hole.

Bohn had a 63 that included six consecutive birdies on the front nine. Spieth shot 65, with a near-birdie that became a bogey at the par-3 16th.

But it was a bitterly disappointing last day for Ian Poulter who had to settle for tied 5th with four other players after carding a level par 70.
