Jason Day looking to make it three wins in a row

After celebrating back-to-back victories, Australian Jason Day will be bidding to join an elite band of golfers who have recorded three straight wins on the main Tour.

The Aussie, winner of the US PGA Championship at Whistling Straits followed by a resounding success in last weekend’s The Barclays –the opening event in this season’s money-spinning Fed Ex Championship – is aiming to make it three in a row in this weekend’s Deutsche Championship at TPB Boston.

However, he’s got a long way to get even close to record-breaking Byron Nelson who incredibly scored 11 consecutive PGA Tour wins in 1945 – a record that will take helluva lot of beating.

In-form Day looks invincible at the moment though and will at least fancy his chances of getting on level terms (3 straight wins) with a whole bunch of players including Rory McIlroy who achieved a hat-trick of successive successes in 2014.

The PGA Tour consecutive winners big hitters are:

*11 straight wins – Byron Nelson 1945

*7 – Tiger Woods 2006-07

*6 Ben Hogan – 1948 & Tiger Woods 1999-2000

*5 Tiger Woods 2007-08

*4 Byron Nelson 1945-46, Jack Burke Jnr 1952 & Ben Hogan 1953
